February Wrap up and Friday Reads (2/28/14)

This month has been hit and miss when it comes to reading. I read 3 (and got halfway through #4) books this month and 2 of them were not very good....*Sigh* What a downer....Ah well...Let's get into it.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare: This is the first book I read this month,  and as much as I wanted to like it, is as much as I hated it....I have never face-palmed so many times while reading a book in my entire life...I was so fed up with it, I skimmed the ending. I will not be purchasing the next book....and personally I don't know if I even want to check it out at the library....Such a failure...-____-

Daughter of Oreveille by Tricia Ballad: I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway and I was excited to read it....but then I started reading it and I was sooooooooooooo frustrated with it that I couldn't even finish it. There was no plot, I didn't care about the characters and I just had no idea what was doin'...Bah! (I DNF'd it)

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J Maas: FINALLY!!! A GOOD FRIGGEN BOOK!!!! I have been fan-raging about this book (it's a step up from fan-girling XD) since I finished it. I need Heir of Fire ASAP!!! *dies*

A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin: I am still reading this book....GAH! I am about 53% done, so that's cool..but I have a ways to go still. It is starting to get good (I might have said that last time..?) so hopefully I can get through the rest of it quickly. I already have 3 books picked out for March, and I want to get to those ASAP!

Well that's all for now!~ I'll see ya'll in a few for my March TBR!
Peace out chickadees!

...So much for the book buying ban...February book haul

So...I ended up buying more books....I know...I know...I said I wasn't going to...but....books..... -___-'' So I have 6 books to show you (one was discounted and the others were second hand).

Eragon by Christopher Paolini: I had heard good things about this book, but I heard the rest of the series was shit...They had the...second (?) book at Goodwill, but I didn't even bother. I love the matte texture of this cover. It's so..touchable! XD And it's a floppy soft cover, so yay!! It also had a bookmark in it, so win!!

The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud: I have seen this book everywhere...but honestly, the little orc-ish/goblin dude on the cover creeped me out. But then I found this one while I was waiting for my friend to get out of the bathroom, so I snatched it up!~ She said she loved this series, so I'm excited to start it eventually!

The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley: I had seen this book before at Goodwill, but I didn't know what it was, so I always passed it up. Then I saw Regan's 2014 bookish resolution and I'm pretty sure this book was on her list. I figured, why not, and put it on my stack of books. It is pretty damaged, and has some sort of water stain on it which has made the pages all crinkly...but I don't mind. I like the way the pages sound. ^^''

Beyonders- A World Without Heroes by Brandon Mull: My home town is stupid....there are no bookstores.....But we finally got a Books-A-Million about 30 minutes away (woot). So I was looking for Shatter Me, but they didn't have it...So somehow, I ended up with the first book in the Beyonders trilogy by Brandon Mull. It is a middle grade fantasy book that sounded pretty interesting, and it has a blurb by Rick Riordan, so I thought, 'meh, why not," and got it for a discounted price!~ Weeee!

So that's it for this haul. I don't plan on buying anything for quite some time (probably...). I will have my February wrap-up posted soon and my March TBR soon to follow. I'm still reading A Clash of Kings, but because I've been sick and not very mobile, I have been able to get a good chunk of it read. Until next time my lovey cakes! Tootles!!

Crown of Midnight--A Reveiw! And a fangirlgasm *NO SPOILERS*

NO SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!

From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul black as pitch.  Assassin Celaena Sardothein won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.
Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her clostest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiance-not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.
Then, one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie...and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.

*5/5 Stars*

This book......Holy shit.....This book.........I laughed, I cussed, I squee'd and face-palmed soooooooooooo many times. This book was so good, and so many things went down! Secrets and truths came out and a romance came into fruition~ So many good feels!! And then tragedy strikes and shit hits the fan.........and I just read it all with my jaw dropped. Like literally, my jaw was on the floor....the whole time. Holy shit balls.....The things that happen.......And the mysteries and secrets!! Let me just say, "OoO."

The characters, like always, are bloody brilliant. The character development just gets better and better. As secrets become known, we get a deeper understanding of our characters and how complex they are. I live for the characters in this book. I love every single one of them and I love hating the ones I'm supposed to hate. I'm super curious as to what happens to them next.

There wasn't as much world building in this book, but there was a lot more lore. We learn more about Elena and Gavin, heritage of the royal family, magic, the witches and the Fae. I love that we are finally getting more of a glimpse into the fantasy and the magical elements of this world and this series. We got a small taste of it in the first book, but the second one......All the magics!

So I made a post a couple of days ago fangirling about this series and how the next book, Heir of Fire, is coming out in September. After having finished this book.................................................Can't we just skip all those months and get to September already?!?!?!?! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I need it now...........T^T Why do the gods hate me so?! -3- (<---that's a sigh/pbbhhh face) I don't think I can handle the wait.....I pray to the book gods that I can get an ARC (advance reader's copy) so I have it...and then I can buy the finished copy because OBSESSION. O-O (lol)

Well....that's all for now. I really hope those who haven't read this series......DO IT. DO IT NOW!!!! I will find you and force it into your brain and eye spaces! >____< READ IT!

Update: I have read 4/10 for my fantasy books challenge!! And I have read 6/25 books for my book reading challenge!! I'm so proud of me!

I will see you all tomorrow with my Friday reads!~ Until next tomorrow!~ Jus!

January Book Haul pt 3...final....

This is THE LAST book haul I will be doing for a VERY long time. I am poor and my bookshelves are super full...I need to read what I have. I have a ton of really good books on my shelf, and I can't wait to get to them!~ Without further ado, let's get haulin'. XD

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo: I FINALLY HAVE THIS BOOK!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I have been wanting to read this book since I heard Regan rave about it on her channel. I got it for 1 penny on Amazon. It's an old library book from New York and it's in wonderful condition!! I'M SO EXCITED I COULD PEE (not...not really)!!!

Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson: Brandon Sanderson is rapidly becoming my favorite author....No kidding. I am super excited about this book....like...I can't even begin to explain my excitement...Squee!!!

The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson: Book two in the Mistborn Trilogy. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm so excited!! Book one was so good, and it could have been a stand-alone...but there are more!! XD How awesome is that!?

The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson: Are you seeing a theme with this haul? This is book three in the Mistborn trilogy. So excite!!~

The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith: I really don't know what this book is about...but J. K. Rowling...Yup. 'Nuff said.

The Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson: What?! There is a fourth book?!?!?! It's not technically part of the series...It takes place after the series ends...but yes....I need this.

Well that's all...For a LONG time!~ I need to save moneys! >___< I'm excited to read all of these books!!! Until next time!!! ~Momsey!~

...City of Bones....A Review....Yay.....

*A note from the reviewer* I am probably going to cuss a lot during this review....I have some very strong feels about this book...If you are offended easily with vulgarity, I would suggest you skip this review...

When Clay Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder. Much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with odd markings. This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons-and keep the odd werewolves and vampires in line. It's also her first meeting with gorgeous, golden-haired Jace. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in an ordinary mundane like Clary? And how did she suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....

*1.5/5 stars*

I bloody hated this book.  I wanted sooooooooooooooo much to like this....but I didn't.....I hardly ever consider abandoning books before I finish them...but I thought about it...many times....and in full truth, I didn't actually read all of it.....I skimmed the last few pages of the last chapter and skipped the epilogue...I just couldn't do it anymore. I wanted to bang my head against a wall.....-_____-''' I had first heard about this book from Whittynovel's channel on Youtube. She raves about the series, has Jace's ring around her neck and is pretty much in love with the dude. I trust Whitney's likes, so I decided to read it....I am so sad I was disappointed....(she is a fantastic Youtuber though. Just saying).

I hate hate hate Clary...I despise her name, I loathe how she acts like she knows what's going on even though she's just being introduced to this world that she didn't know existed...she also just says dumb things....Jace was ok...but I wasn't really impressed. I liked him mostly because he was mean to Clary...and then he started to be nice to her...and the end.....-______- No....just.....no.....I would like to pretend the last couple of chapters of this book didn't happen.

I also hated how everyone just kind of seemed to accept situations that would shatter just about anyone's ideals of how things work. "Ehermahgerd, my mummy has been kidnapped!! I'm mad and sad and OH LOOK A CUTE BOY!!!! Holy shiz demons! I'm mad, I'm sad....I totally know about Shadowhunters even though I have never heard of them before...Also I can contribute to conversations about things I don't understand." GAH!!! SHUT UP!!! JESUS BALLS!! JUST SHUT UP!!! Also, I feel like characters freaked out about things that weren't even that bad.

"Holy shit balls!! DEMONS ARE REAL!?!?!?"
"Yeah, they are."
"Oh, ok."

"Um...is Alec gay?"
*everyone freaks the fuck out*

I laughed at things that weren't funny, and literally face palmed my way though this book....I'm surprised that I don't have permanent red hand marks on my face.......I dreaded picking up this book...I knew I had to finish it, but I was like, "...merrr....do I have to???" It was like I was high school again forcing my way through assigned readings.....

My favorite part of this book....was a little pointless conversation in a diner when Jace says his new detective name is going to be "Hotschaft Von Hugenstein (194)."  I lol'd hard core.....It wasn't even important to the feckin story!!! >_____<

Needless to say, I will NOT be finishing this series.....I liked the concept...I liked the magical elements....but the execution....not my favorite....Please, if you have read this...and you liked it, PLEASE!!! I IMPLORE YOU!!! WHY DID YOU LIKE THIS!?!?! I seriously want to know. I am very curious about your thoughts on this book/series.

That's all....I'm currently struggling though another not so wonderful book....-_____- Ugh....Anyways...bye for now....Momo

Not even Tulsi Sweet Rose Tea could make this book better...

Mistborn! A Review!

Mistborn (The Final Empire) by Brandon Sanderson

Once, a hero arose to save the world. A young man with a mysterious heritage courageously challenged the darkness that strangled the land.

He failed.

For a thousand years since, the world has been a wasteland of ash and mist ruled by the immortal emperor known as the Lord Ruler. Every revolt has failed miserably.

Yet somehow, hope survives. Hope that dares to dream of ending the empire and even the Lord Ruler himself. A new kind of uprising is being planned, one built around the ultimate caper, one that depends on the cunning of a brilliant criminal mastermind and the determination of an unlikely heroine, a street urchin who must learn to master Allomancy, the power of a Mistborn.

*5/5 Stars*

This book was bloody fantastic!! I could not put it down...even to sleep (sleep is for mortals anyway, lol). The book was fast paced, full of action, and the characters are fantastic. I loved each and every one of them. And the Lord Ruler! What a bad ass!!! XD There were so many twists and turns and just when I thought I had things figured out, BOOM!!! Another twist!! It was insane!! And the world!!! Wow my gosh!! Fan-friggen-tastic. And the magic!!!! LOVED IT!!! I felt like everything was well explained and rarely did I have to look in the back of the book for a quick reference.

I really liked the magical elements to this story. It's so different from other magical books I have read. The magic in this world is called Allomancy. You use it by burning metals in your body. Some make you alter people's emotions, some make you stronger while others help you fly by pushing and pulling on metals. So brilliant.

Character wise, I loved Vin, the street urchin. I think she's a wonderful character. She was very complex and I actually loved her battle between being the street urchin she's always been and the noblewoman she's pretending to be. Also, Kelsier is a fantastic character. Sometimes he really got on my nerves, but he's a great comic relief. The other characters of the crew are fantastic as well. I just....all the love. Lord Elend Venture is pretty awesome too~ I love how we really don't know his full intentions or feels through the book.

This book made me laugh, cry, yell, face palm, and gave me all the feels. I was shocked and surprised so many times! Brandon Sanderson is a fantastic author, and I need to read more of his books!! I NEED THEM!!!! I do have all of the series (I just haven't hauled them yet) and I am very excited to see how the rest of the books go!

Well, that's all for now!~ Until next time my loveys!~ Tootles!!

Feeling Guilty...Book Abandonment Issues...

So...As you may or may not know, I am reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, and I'm not at all enjoying it...I pretty much despise it with all my being...It's random, the characters don't feel real, I can't connect to their emotions..at all...And after asking my friends what they thought of the series...and none of them have finished it...Everyone disliked it. So I'm thinking of abandoning it....Which is something I NEVER do....I think, in my entire life, I have given up....2 or 3 books....And I have been reading since I knew what books were. Usually, If I'm not digging a book, I put it down and come back to it later, but this book.....I really don't think that's going to be a thing...

I feel really guilty for wanting to abandon it....Like I couldn't properly give it a chance and like, in a way, I'm telling the author that their book was so bad it wasn't worth my time to finish it. Even though Cassandra Clare will probably never read this blog post, I still feel like I'm dissing her. -____-''

Do you guys feel this guilty about not finishing books, or is it just me? I think I take reading a bit too personal sometimes...I'm kind of weird that way. ^^'' Oh well.

Perhaps I will put it aside and try again...Or I will just give it to someone else...We'll see.

Are there any books you guys have been so frustrated with that you just abandoned it? Let me know in the comments!~ I curious!! ^^

Until next time!~ XXX
